Why hasn’t this been done before? Why is this new? In my head restaurants have been accommodating traveling businessmen for decades, right? Perhaps this is more a nod to the casual solodiner, with more time on their hands and whose reason for eating is pure enjoyment. It still strikes me as odd that this took so long to happen, but I’m certainly taking advantage of it!
I at least attempt to start the year with good intentions. This year’s detox has some rather tasty recipes (please understand I’ve been following the GOOP detox since its meager beginning of broths and pureed kale) that I can’t wait to incorporate! Maybe one of these years I’ll be able to afford an infrared sauna treatment…
I am normally not a “listener”, as my memory leans toward the visual. But the book did not emotionally connect to me until I listened to it, which has made me reconsider the entire medium. I’m looking at my book pile now to decide what I can switch over to audio!
I’m aware the new list comes out in a few weeks. But it is so lovely to look at. And a great springboard to plan for my next trip abroad.
My Bucket List
I’ve been so preoccupied with bearing down and enduring the year that I didn’t notice I quietly checked off some boxes in my bucket list column. I attended not one, but two “‘I gotta see them sing before they quit this thing” concerts, went to my first live UFC bout, left the country alone and enjoyed my first tasting menu at a restaurant for my birthday! My goal this year is to definitely add some more big ones on there…but also, to notice when they happen this time. Where was I? Goodness.
This case caused many a sleepless night, as my past holds an abuser who would specifically say “I told you no one would help you“. While that’s a story left to be told, this verdict brings me hope that we can begin to unravel the myth of the “unrapeable woman” and the “perfect victim”
This is just a little new thing I wanted to start because I draw inspiration from many sources (and also, I happen to come across dope shit every now and again). Rather than try to curate and translate what I think you should take from said dope shit, I thought it would be nice for a change to remember you guys are smart and let you draw your own conclusions. So, a weekly list of things that made me smile, think or move was born. Enjoy!
Every year I start a fitness challenge around Thanksgiving, and you already know I’m a devotee to the Method. Here, Anderson shares her tips for keeping stress and the holiday bulge at bay on GOOP. Oh! And while I’m at it, Tracy has a cool thing on her site where she highlights fellow TAM enthusiasts-and I was pleasantly surprised that one of her first features was a Woman of Color.
While I started the social media for this blog rather quietly, I’m finally carving out a space I actually like. So if you don’t see me here, I’m likely whipping some recipe up or collecting some writing material in the form of life experience over there.
