A Word on Darkness

“When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it is time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly.”-Edward Teller

At times I forget what light looks like.

Breakdowns, breakthrus, testimonies and tests,

Dark and Dawn seem words on a page

Mist in the air, meaningless between my

Ears. When life is a search for light, hope in shadow, whispers

Of Daybreak. Darker still, eyes search.

Hope becomes Fear. Fear becomes

Paralysis. Safety in still. Movement is

Pain, Forward and Backward, all turns to Ash.

The soul screams, the heart Hardens

The armor grows thicker. The Darkness

Grows, the abyss closer.

The silence, deafening.

The mind Quiets. Awareness in Still.

The Spirit awakens. The Voice says,

“One More”. The Heart opens. The

Mind, Awake. The Light, blinding.

Searching, feeling, outward, moving

Touching, sensing, Ever-present.

The Light was within.

The light is Within.
